Course Information
COURSE CONTENT: Introducing the students to the basic elements, foundations, ethics, principles and the aims of scientific research; making them familiar with the theoretical basis of different methodological perspectives and especially the features of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and their similarities/ differences in terms of aim, design, methods of data collection and analysis; developing an understanding in terms of proper use of data collection methods such as different types of interviewing, study of documents, observation and participant observation and focus groups; making them acquainted with types of sampling, research planning and the stages of the research process, documenting resources and writing a research report. The students are expected to make a practice of what they have learned in the course by class assignments as well as by writing a research proposal on a certain topic as term paper.
